October 1, 2015

Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada

What began as a dream and hope has started to become reality. The Sun Lodge Farms in Nakusp B.C. has already started extensive work at the 472 acres located nestled near the Village of Nakusp. A beautiful and breathtaking mountain farm, Sun Lodge Farms has already built new access roads and hosted the Nakusp Medieval Society's, "Medieval Days", with great success.

Now, in order to help facilitate more changes and the beginning of the design work for their care and housing facilities, Sun Lodge Farms has launched their first crowdfunding campaign. This campaign can be found here:

A First for North America - Special Needs in Need

June 30, 2015

Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada

Sun Lodge Farms is one of the first farms of its kind in the world! The goal: to create a lifelong living community farm for people with special needs. While farms like this already exist, their plan is different. Sun Lodge Farms will link people with special needs with a community of active seniors over the age of fifty, along with young agrarians or families wishing to farm select plots of land. The result is a lifelong caring community where residents come together to share wisdom, provide skills, and develop purpose. It's a mutually beneficial and prosperous union of ability, experience, and self-empowerment.

"It's a win-win-win situation...it's about caring, cooperation and community," says Dennis Bruneau, Founder and President of Sun Lodge Farms. "I've been working on this idea, together with family and friends, for nearly seven years, and we're now crossing major thresholds and milestones every month." Bruneau is referring to the progress his team has seen thus far in the farms' vision.

Sun Lodge Farms' latest accomplishment is the launch of their new website. It is a combination of story, original farm photography, and visually-inspiring videos that help the visitor to fully understand and experience the concept and idea for this unique social enterprise.

Encompassing 472 acres just outside the community of Nakusp, in the Central Kootenay Region of B.C., Sun Lodge Farms will become one of the largest lifelong living community farms for people with special needs in North America. It is definitely one of the few farms of its size and scope in the world that is combining three distinct lodging communities for the purpose of mutually benefiting one another. It's a vision that's been waiting to happen.

Everyone is encouraged to visit www.sunlodgefarms.com and explore the website. They are beginning their donation-based crowdfunding campaign for the purpose of clearing title and rehabilitating the Central Lodge that will serve as their administration and coordination centre prior to preliminary project planning.
